Our local free paper, The Other Paper, printed this photo of a local church and their opinion about a recent pop song.

Personally, I like to think that our God is an all loving God and that He would not frown upon an innocent make out session between two chicks. Ephesians 10:21 states, "And doth Mary did kiss Mary Magdalene on the lips and tasted the berries and doth she likened it."

Amen.

I believe the correct context jay fielding was quoting is: "judge not lest ye be judged, for by what measure ye judge ye shall also be judged." In other parts of the Bible, Christians are instructed to judge all things -- according to what God says is right and wrong. God has said clearly that homosexuality is wrong. Also murder, disrespecting parents, theft, and envy.. among many other things. He also says a lot about what is right. Love one another, take care of widows and orphans... among others. In other words, we are all subject to the same judgement. No hypocrisy there.

I think it's funny that I actually stumbled this since I'm lesbian and have kissed many girls.
I also think it's funny, because most of these people I agree with.
like the hypocritical stuff of Christians.
If loving someone of the same sex is wrong, where do they get their proof?
how do you know that a male and female are supposed to love each other.
a horse and a donkey can create a mule, why can't humans do the same thing? is it wrong for the horse to love the donkey? is it going to hell? or is hell only for humans?

from where I see, people are just judging because people are different and don't like it. sure it's their opinion but that doesn't give them the right to treat them badly or say oh so hurtful things, like "going to hell".

So the Church DIDN'T stone people for infidelity? Deuteronomy 22:13-26, what a convienient memory you have. Oh wait but they are "loving", like during The Crusades (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crusades), where thousands were killed in battle because they were of a different persuasion of religion and even against some other christian nations. The will of the Church was enforced across a good chunk of the world and all who did not swear fealty to the Church and accept their God were tortured until they "freely confessed their sins and submitted to God" then were mercifuly put to death.
Or how about the great loving motion that was the Salem Witch Trials (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem_Witch_Trials), where many women and even some men were put to death in all sorts of ways (drowning, hanging, burning, stoning, crushed,fall to death)
just because someone didnt understand something the person was doing. The drowning and falling ones are my favorite becaue they were "tests" and if they passed they died a "good chrisian death". Women that were performing what was considered mens duties (espcecially in the medical field, such as female doctors and herbalists) were targeted by people who felt threatened by their supposedly "supernatual skill" in the profession.
And lets not forget that they all out crushed the Pagans and took theyre holidays so that it was as if they never existed. Ever wonder why Christmas is in December when Jesus was born in late summer?
So remember boys and girls the all loving church will accept anyone as long as they bend over and take it, otherwise they'll f-in kill you.

So, actually... The Salem witch trials. None of the people who were killed in Salem were actually of other religions. Those were the witch trials in Europe. And most of them weren't of other religions either.

But I agree with you. They have hurt just as many others with their faith and justified blood because it was their "duty from God".

That is not to say that all Christians are like that, however.

- Because there is absolute TRUTH in the bible. The two most hated religions in the world on a global scale are Christianity and Judaism. Think about it, if the Bible is TRUE then there is a Devil. Truth that is an excellent response in my opinion and it is clear to me that you are well rooted in your beliefs.
Honestly I belive that it is the heavy-handedness of the Church that shuns many people like myself, and the fact that the Bible has been rewritten so many times since its origin that it is hard to tell what the origingal said and what was added and removed by rulers and "scholars" over the centuries. I also believe that this is where many of the contradictions originate, though again it is hard to tell with out getting and actual 2,000 year old original text. But the fact remains that regardless of all the above that it is still the cornerstone of the religion.
As for why the attack on Christianity, well it's probably because to me it represents Big Brother so to speak(and no I dont trust our government either, though I am far from a conspiracy theorist). I'm sure if there were some other religion that was just as or more so restrictive I would probably feel the same about it.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for religion, for practicing in your home and place of worship, people need something to believe in so they don't feel so alone. But when it comes to fervently screaming at me that I'm going to burn forever in a fiery pit because I don't live MY life the way YOU say I should that just gets me going.
To everyone I would also like to apologize for the somewhat adamant nature of the first posting I made, this subject tends to get me riled sometimes, though I won't retract any of it. Guess I'm guilty of a little ferver myself :).

Simply put...Christians are the most vocal religion in this country. Hindus, Muslims,and Jews do not force their "god" into our lives through "In God we trust" on currency and license plates (indiana), and force innocent children to say "under God." ((Before you go citing history you know little or nothing about..."In God We trust" and "under God" were never mentioned by our founding fathers, or in the Constitution.))

That being stated, you Christians claim your faith is under attack. I don't see it. With the examples above and a Christian broadcast on every 10th channel on my cable...you're pushing your faith! Leave me alone!!!!!!

While it makes for an attention getting sign, it doesn't really convey much about God's nature.

None of us deserve to go to heaven. We are all filled with hateful, hurtful, awful thoughts and behaviors. This was/is a choice on our part. God does love us and He has no desire at all to be separated from us (the real definition of hell) so much so that He allowed Jesus (his only son) to give up His life in a brutal fashion and to suffer the penalty of all the things we have/will do wrong. When we acknowledge/accept this, we can enjoy the gift of God's presence in our lives, both before and after death.

If you don't believe any of that, then you aren't going to agree with much of what a person who does believe has to say. If you don't believe the Bible is true,ok, your not going to believe me when I tell you the consequences of your disbelief.

I've done a ton of stuff that isn't just wrong by the Bibles standards, its wrong by the social morality of our times. I still make mistakes. If I kissed a girl, it wouldn't send me to hell. It would hurt my relationship with God. To fix that I would need to stop and ask God's forgiveness. He would forgive me because he loves me. If you don't share my beliefs, then your not going to share my convictions. If your not convicted then you will see no reason to ask for God's forgiveness.

There are both Christians and non-Christians that say stupid things. There are both Christian and non-Christian hypocrites. The hate and cruelty of the world infects people both in and out of church. That does not change God, or his message.

Much of what is written here is pretty lame. "Cthulu can kick Yaweh's ass" really? seriously? Do you think that's clever? really?! We have messages that contradict our beliefs "shoved" down our throats all the time. That's really what prompted this sign, a song that glorifies something that Christians believe is hurtful. We are told that this is the price of free speech, and I happen to agree. I claim that same promise when I talk about what I believe. I am just as deserving and no more hateful than you for my desire to exercise it. I am accountable to my Creator for how I present His word. Some of what is written here hurts me, or irritates me, or both.
But it does not change God or his message.

My relationship with God has changed my life. I have a deeper love for people because of the work he has done in my life. I am more forgiving because he has forgiven me. I have a peace in my heart that I didn't have before. I have found wisdom and direction in the bible that surpasses all the self-help of the world.

You may disagree with everything I've said. You may hate me for having said it. But that won't change God or his message.

The true fact is that we are all going to die for the fall of man and original sin, except for Noah and his family whom God was pleased with.
God flooded the earth once to rid it of his creation that turned against him. Later he promised to never do it again and leave man to his evil ways and give him the choice to believe or not to believe. He will not change but we can by accepting his immense love and change our lives or we can continue to do what we all do and be eternally away from his sight. I'm no saint by far but through repentance and turning from sin God will continue to love and Bless my life. He has my life in his hands and I have the choice to follow his plan or follow my own plan which usually ends in disaster. God loves us all. We just have to decide to choose to love him back. Look at it this way. try Jesus if you don't like him the devil will always take you back.

Self defense. Plain and simple.

In America, fundamentalist Christians have:

-Happily eroded the separation of church and state by supporting politicians who ignore it

-Enthusiastically voted George W. Bush into office TWICE

-Actively held back the development of new medical technology and treatment through stem cell research

-Continuously battled against scientific advancement of all kinds because it so often contradicts what they believe

-Set back the education system by constantly trying to get science teachers to make room for the bible in their classrooms

-Helped to maintained a level of intolerance toward minorities and gays that has resulted in violent crimes and thousands of suicides across the country

... Christianity is the source of much hatred, toward others as well as self. I realize that 'not all Christians are like that.' .. Of course not. Those who are more intelligent, or seek to be, should re-evaluate the crowd they're associating themselves with and take action to cleanse their reputation.

So yes, non-believers like myself are quite eager to tear down Christianity because it is directly hastening the downfall of America and in the meantime making my own personal life a lot less enjoyable.

as for the song, which my 11yr old daughter sings along to, it was written by a woman who's both parents are preachers, and like Tori amos, many singers leave such hypocritical faiths to find artistic and personal freedom.
If i treated my kids like these religous freaks, I am assured my kid would write a song entitled "My Dad is a Kunt" or "Jesus touched me there, and I'm sueing!"
and anyhow, according to the song in question, the only one who's business it is, is her boyfriends.... ;-)

Ephesians 10:21 is part of the dead sea scrolls dated during the time of Christ.  Basically Ephesians is one of the lost books that wasn't placed in the Bible by the Romans during the time when Rome wrote/canonized the Bible.  So if you had the full bible there would be 12 gospels and 15 more books, so what you have here is a small encyclopedia set.  This would take up at least 4 to 5 current bible size books.  If you were to read all the books of the bible before the Romans rewrote it, you would see some of this books and then the passage would make sense.

But lets take the current bible as you see you.  I'll take the Roman Bible, The King James bible, American Christan bible, and well many many more.  All of these bibles were rewritten to prove or provide an agenda for those who wrote them.  Examples to follow ::

Example 1 :: Exodus

 20 And they Shall say unto the elder of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
 21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die; so shalt thou put evil to rest.

So if your kids are bad and don't listen to you kill them.  Let me really make it stand out KILL YOUR CHILD IF THEY ARE BAD This is what the passage dictates.  Ok next examples I won't bore you with the passage but I'll give you the spot to look it up on your own.


Example 2 :: Exodus 21v7

Its ok to sell your daughter into slavery.  Yes you could sell your daughter off to someone else to cover your bills.  Its in the bible therefore you must follow it as law.  So basically anyone can go to a family in Idaho somewhere and say hey seems you don't need your 14 year old daughter so I'll buy her to clean my garage and rub my feet for 500 bucks.  Wow I mean really WOW, well look at it like this if you daughter ends up on Murry Povich for not listening to and you think Example 1 was immoral you can always sell her into slavery.  At least you can make some money this way.


Example 3 :: Exodus 35v2

Anyone working on the sabbath should be put to death.  I think I just proved that Wal-Mart works for the devil on this one as 75% of the employees that work for Wal-Mart work on a Sunday.  So if your a good Christan and want to make god happy you have to kill everyone that works on a Sunday.  If you Lutheran you need to kill those that work on Saturday.  So lets go back to example 1 & 2 if your daughter listens to you and your not into that slavery thing.  But she takes a job somewhere working on the sabbath well you can kill her with a rock or go with the quick and painless route and give her lethal injection. 


Example 4 :: Corinthians 11v14

If a man has long hair it is and abomination unto itself.  Well every picture of Jesus shows him with long hair...  So all men with long hair can be consider homosexual.  After I watched the documentary called Jesus Camp a boy named Levi was part of that movie.  But he had long hair so can be considered homosexual and and abomination and should be put to death as the bible states.  So maybe we should all go to that Jesus Camp and stone Levi to death because he has long hair.  This would restore balance to the world and set you on the right path in god's eyes.  Also in the documentary Levi did talk back to his parents once... according to example 1 he should of been stoned to death for this alone.  Heck according to Example 1 George W. Bush should of been stoned to death, but Evangelicals worship him and that brings us to the book of Moses.


Example 4 :: Moses

Everyone knows the 10 commandments, Well most should at least know.  It has been the cornerstone for most laws around the world.  But we won't get into that we will focus on one of them.

Thy shall have no other god before me. 

Catchy and very impressive but why do Evangelicals idolize others and place them on the platform of a god.  Example is when asked some Evangelicals and Creationists place George W. Bush in the same category as a God or Prophet. Soo they have violated the 10 commandments and should be put to death as the bible states for acceptable punishments. So what we need to do is round up about 3 to 4 states worth of Evangelicals and Creationists and have them all stoned to death.



Example 5 :: Corinthians 19~24

A man shall not go near a woman while on her period. So hey guys you have an excuse to skip out on your wife or boss or whatever for 1 week out of the month. But reading further into this this one pretty much allows lesbians, and nowhere in the bible it states a woman shall not be with another woman. It only pertains to men not women in the passage that most Christan's like to quote. So for you out there that say this passage only pertains to sex.. Then why does it not state anything about a woman?? What you can see here is that the passage allows lesbians and your won't go to hell if your a girl that kisses another girl. Who knows you might like it...

Love the post--though gotta admit the comments are even better. "Why are you persecuting us poor Christians??!! It's not like we condemn you to eternal torment for not sharing our beliefs! Nonetheless, I'd like to share one of my favorite passages from Holy Scripture, one that really fills me with love and devotion, and I hope it will do the same for you:

When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. I just have to say the amount of misunderstanding about what the Bible really teaches is enormous, but just about par since this world, this system we live in, is controlled by Satan the devil, who is a liar.
True Christians strive to not be hypocrits, but because they are imperfect humans living in the aforementioned system they make selfish mistakes. But the important thing is true Christians STRIVE to live by God's word the Bible.
Now, I could mentioned scripture after scripture to prove my point but I think in this forum that would be useless.
I will say this. If you are searching for the truth, and you are humble and sincere yet at the same time question things, I strongly suggest you attend a meeting of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Now before you get all gagged up and offensive, I just say go to a meeting with an open mind. Question anything you want, but if it states it in the Bible then accept it because that is their textbook.
I am a mature man who searched all my life for the truth and didn't find it until i studied with them. And, yes, i questioned everything I was being taught, everything.
But what they teach comes from the Bible,which btw, is not hypocritical.

I humbly suggest honest-hearted people give the Jehovah's Witnesses a chance.
They teach Bible-based truth.
You can question all you want, and the answers they give will be from the Bible, which btw is not hypocritical at all if you dig deep into its meaning.
